Amazon Bedrock has cut on-demand inference pricing for OpenAI's GPT-5.6 model lineup, AWS announced in its weekly roadmap update. The change took effect on July 30 and applies automatically, with no configuration changes required.
Extent of the price cuts
GPT-5.6 Luna pricing was cut by 80%, while GPT-5.6 Terra pricing was cut by 20%. Following the reduction, GPT-5.6 Luna is now priced at $0.20 per million input tokens and $1.20 per million output tokens. AWS described this as "among the most affordable frontier-class models currently available."
Other updates announced
The same weekly roadmap also covered support for a managed Prometheus collector in Amazon CloudWatch, the general availability of AWS Interconnect—a multicloud connectivity service linking with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)—and expanded multi-region support for IAM Identity Center. Additionally, a guide for deploying Moonshot AI's Kimi K3 model on SageMaker HyperPod and Amazon EKS was reportedly released as well.
