Optional learning, METAL rewards and friends
The optional features introduced on September 10, 2026 use the same METAL account on the web and iOS. We store your chosen alias, interests, weekly goal, reminder settings, reading progress, quiz and review responses, and earned/redeemed METAL records with your account to synchronize learning, personalize briefings, provide benefits and prevent duplicate rewards. These account-linked records are removed when your account is deleted.
Friends connect only after an invitation is explicitly accepted. Friends see only your alias and this week's reading-day count and goal, not your email, article list, answers or interests. We do not collect your address book or send invitations automatically. Invitation, block and report records support relationship management and safety. You can remove, block or report a friend. Account deletion removes connections.
Completing three briefing stories, a quiz and its explanation earns at most one free METAL per day. METAL is not sold, transferable, redeemable for cash or a cryptocurrency. Spending does not lower your lifetime-earned tier. Reward conditions are shown before redemption; owned resources can be reopened without buying them again. The initial policy has no time expiry, but account deletion removes the balance and benefits. Imported old device records do not earn retroactive METAL.
Friends and growth pages are excluded from non-essential visit analytics. Existing news advertising and analytics are described below. See the app privacy notice for local storage, reminders, audio and deletion details.

Google and third-party advertising providers may place or read cookies and use web beacons, IP addresses, device identifiers or advertising identifiers to serve and measure ads. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
In regions where consent is required, Google Consent Mode starts with storage denied and updates advertising and analytics storage only after reading the choice in Google's privacy message. Non-essential analytics, including PostHog and Amplitude, are not initialised before consent to the analytics purpose. Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals, and METAL's internal opt-out, take priority. You can withdraw your choice or delete stored cookies through Google's privacy controls, your browser settings, or the contact below.
7. Destruction
Personal data is destroyed without delay once its retention period has passed or its purpose has been fulfilled. Electronic files are permanently deleted by a method that does not allow recovery.

You may at any time request access to your personal data, or its correction, deletion, suspension of processing, or withdrawal of consent.

10. Notice of changes
Where this policy is added to, removed from or amended, notice is given on the Site from seven days before the change takes effect.
Youth protection policy
METAL applies content standards intended to prevent information harmful to minors from being published.
Report harmful information to youth protection officer 김현국 at kook@metalai.co.kr or 010-8660-3567.
We review reported content and, where necessary, restrict access to it, remove it, or take other appropriate action.
Corrections policy
METAL articles are produced from their original sources with the help of AI editorial tools. Every story must pass a fact check against its original sources (Fact QA) and quality gates before publication; a draft that fails verification is not published. Press-sourced breaking stories and material from curated collection lanes become articles only after the publisher approves them. Humans set the editorial standards and remain accountable for the result; confirmed errors are corrected as follows.
1. Submitting a request
Send correction requests to kook@metalai.co.kr together with the URL of the article.
2. How we handle it
- Factual error — the text is corrected as soon as the error is confirmed, and the date and substance of the change are stated at the foot of the article.
- Misleading wording — the wording is improved and, where needed, additional explanation is added.
- Serious error — the article is unpublished and a separate correction notice is posted.
3. Response time
We reply with the outcome within three business days of receiving the request. Where verifying the facts takes longer, we tell you where things stand.
4. Record
A corrected article keeps a record of the change. We do not quietly rewrite the original after the fact.
