Hyunkook Kim김현국

Publisher · Founder & CEO, METAL

He started in fashion trend research, founded and ran a brand agency, and led Leica Camera Korea's education platform, Leica Akademie. In 2026 he founded METAL to build metallab.ai, a magazine that brings AI news from around the world to Korean readers first and in a form that is a pleasure to read.

Every METAL story passes a fact check against its original sources and quality gates before publication. Kim owns the editorial standards that decide what is read and what is rejected; press-sourced breaking stories and material from curated collection lanes become articles only after he approves them. When an error is confirmed after publication, the story is corrected or taken down and the rule itself is fixed.

What he is responsible for here

  • Source selection — which official blogs, newsrooms, paper repositories and developer communities are read, and which are excluded.
  • Editorial standards — the rules that stop promotional announcements, late re-reporting and stale source material, plus the per-brand cap on page space.
  • Approval of breaking stories and curated lanes — press-sourced breaking news and designated collection lanes become articles only after he approves them in Slack.
  • Corrections and takedowns — confirmed errors are corrected or removed after publication, and the correction is stated in the story.
  • Brand-ranking adjustments — any editorial adjustment to a score is logged with its reason.
