ABOUT

First, AI Magazine

METAL covers AI across three sections — AI, creative and business — picking what matters out of the daily flood. We care less about what shipped than about why it matters, and we try to make that part easy and fun to read.

AI news first, told like a magazine

Every day we look at what AI companies and research labs around the world announce, pick out the news that actually matters to readers, and bring it to Korean readers first. Speed is not the whole point. When a new model lands we explain what changed; when a new service opens we explain who gets to use it and how; and we say what the news means for the industry and for you, all in one story. Difficult terms link straight to their meaning inside the text, and every story ends with an editor's view that says plainly why it matters.

What we cover

  • AI New AI models, papers and benchmarks — plus apps, services, agents and devices as they ship, and AI that gets a body: humanoids, robot arms, self-driving, VLA policies and world models
  • Creative Image, video, music and 3D generation — and the work made with it
  • Business Funding, M&A, earnings, talent moves and regulation
  • The Lab Where we dig into one subject across several stories — the one piece to read closely today
  • Hello Alien An alien writes in with a question about Earth's AI, and we write back — a series that explains it from scratch

We also treat AI companies themselves as a beat: a brand directory sits alongside the sections, and a brand ranking runs down the right-hand side of every page. It is there so you can read the industry as a movement rather than one story at a time.

For readers new to the field we keep an AI glossary. Difficult terms inside a story link straight to their entry.

How stories are chosen

  1. Sources — official blogs and newsrooms, paper repositories, technology press and developer communities are reviewed on a schedule. Which sources go in or out is an editorial decision, and sources that fail the bar are excluded from the start.
  2. Writing — the facts in the source material are verified and the story is written fresh in Korean. We do not translate and republish: we confirm the facts, rebuild them into new sentences, and keep quotation to a minimum.
  3. Editorial gates — anything that trips an editorial rule is not published. What gets stopped here: news that one platform has added somebody else's model, promotional announcements, reaction pieces that crowd out the original announcement, late re-reporting of something we already covered, and stories whose source material is stale. A cap also prevents any single brand from taking over the page.
  4. Verification and publication — every story must pass a fact check against its original sources (Fact QA) and deterministic quality gates before it is published. A draft that fails verification is not published. Press-sourced breaking stories and material from curated collection lanes proceed to an article only after the publisher approves them, and an approved event is tracked until it is actually published.
  5. After the fact — a story that slipped through a gate is taken down or corrected, and then the rule itself is fixed so the same thing does not happen twice.

Images

Lead images come from official press kits and press releases first, credited to the source; where none exists we produce our own. We do not use photographs taken by other publications.

The ranking is not an opinion

The brand ranking is recalculated daily by normalising five axes: news mentions, developer signals, search interest, launch impact and community response. Where editorial judgement adjusts a score, the adjustment is logged with its reason. Ask us and we will show you the formula and the data sources as they are.

Languages

METAL publishes in Korean, English and Chinese. Stories are written in Korean first and then carried into the other two editions. Where a translation has not landed yet, the Korean original is shown and a note at the top of the story says so.

Corrections and tips

If you find something that is not accurate, tell us. Once confirmed, the correction is made in the story itself and stated there. The standards we apply are in the corrections policy. Tips and enquiries go to contact.
