Meta has launched Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 in India and named Ranveer Singh as the first brand ambassador for Ray-Ban and Ray-Ban Meta in the country. In an announcement on its India newsroom on October 1, Meta also previewed Ray-Ban Meta Audio, a new audio-focused pair of glasses, and laid out plans to bring its personal AI agent Muse to its AI glasses. Meta described Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 as "the next generation of the world's best-selling AI glasses." The original Meta announcement that METAL reviewed bundles the ambassador news with three product updates in a single post, and spends its first half on style rather than specifications.
Ranveer Singh has collaborated with Meta several times over the years. Meta said the partnership opens a new chapter for Ray-Ban in India. "Ray-Ban has always stood for individuality, and that is something I have connected with for as long as I can remember," said Singh, the new brand ambassador. "Style, for me, has never been about following a fixed formula – it is about instinct, mood and having the freedom to express every version of yourself," he said. He added that alongside "Meta's vision of building AI glasses for everyone," he was "excited to be a part of that story in India."
The core product news is Gen 3 going on sale in India. According to Meta, Gen 3 packs the features of earlier generations into a slimmer, more comfortable design, with up to nine hours of battery life on a single charge. That is one hour more than Gen 2. A new customizable action button gives instant access to Meta AI, and the temple tips can be professionally adjusted for a better fit. The microphones move to a six-mic array that cuts more than 90% of background noise. Meta said calls and voice commands stay clear even on windy or crowded streets.
For capture, the glasses have a 12 MP camera and 3K Ultra HD video recording. A new dynamic photos feature lets users pick the best frame from a shot. As with every generation, Gen 3 includes an LED light that signals to people nearby when photos or video are being taken. The glasses come in three styles, Aviator, the new cat-eye Zena frame, and Wayfarer, with 27 color and lens combinations. To mark the 90th anniversary of the Ray-Ban Aviator, Meta is also releasing a limited-edition Aviator in a vintage-inspired colorway. They are sold through Meta's official site, Ray-Ban's India site, and consumer electronics and eyewear retailers in India.
The product line has moved quickly through generations in India. According to reports, three generations of Ray-Ban Meta have arrived in less than two years since Gen 1 entered India in May 2025, and Gen 3 went on sale from September 24 through Ray-Ban's online store and select optical stores. The same reports say battery life grew from up to four hours on Gen 1 to eight hours on Gen 2 and nine hours on Gen 3, while video recording rose from 1080p on Gen 1 to 3K from Gen 2 onward. All three generations share 32GB of storage, Bluetooth 5.3 and IPX4 splash resistance. Meta is reported to be continuing sales of Gen 2 in India after the Gen 3 launch.
The upcoming Ray-Ban Meta Audio puts the power of earbuds and AI into Meta's lightest and slimmest AI glasses. It weighs 43 grams and can play music and podcasts, handle calls and hold hands-free conversations with an AI assistant for up to 12 hours on a single charge. The included charging case adds up to 48 more hours. The nose pads are adjustable or swappable, and the hinges allow overextension. Meta said audio has been the most popular feature of its glasses since day one, delivering good sound without closing users off from the world around them.
Muse is what Meta put forward as the next step for its AI glasses. Meta said that in the coming months it will bring Muse to its AI glasses for hands-free access, activated by saying the agent's name. Muse can act on what the wearer is looking at. According to Meta, a user can ask about a product on a shelf, a flier on a wall or a long list of school supplies, and Muse will take action without the user having to describe what is in front of them. METAL previously reported that Meta launched its Muse personal agent and unveiled Meta VR Glasses at its Connect event in September.
In this announcement, Meta led with people and style rather than specifications. The post described AI glasses as something that helps users build healthy habits or manage a busy calendar without reaching for a phone, and the ambassador's words focused on individuality and expression rather than features. The device is introduced first as the face of an eyewear brand, with specifications and agent features layered on afterward. Once Muse arrives on the glasses, the product's role expands from a device that listens and records to one that sees and acts on the wearer's behalf.
