깃허브에 붙어 코드를 대신 써주는 AI 도구. 「AI 코딩 비서」 시대를 연 원조다. 대표 기능은 코드 자동완성과 채팅형 어시스턴트이며, 비주얼 스튜디오 코드·비주얼 스튜디오·JetBrains 계열 통합개발환경에 확장 프로그램 형태로 설치해 쓴다. 채팅형 어시스턴트는 코드 설명, 버그 수정 제안, 테스트 코드 작성 등 개발 전 과정에서 활용된다. 2026년 8월에는 코드를 짜기 전에 요구사항과 설계를 먼저 정리하도록 돕는 'Spec Kit'이 공개돼, 구현에 앞서 설계 단계부터 개입하는 도구로 영역을 넓혔다.
