Dysarthria is a condition where your thoughts and words are completely intact, but the muscles or nerves that turn them into sound - the mouth, tongue, and vocal cords - aren't working properly, so speech comes out slurred or slow.

A radio analogy makes this easy to picture. The signal being broadcast (what you want to say) is fine, but the antenna or wiring (the muscles and nerves used to speak) is weak, so what comes out of the speaker sounds crackly and garbled. Causes can include stroke, Parkinson's disease, neurological diseases that weaken muscles, or nerve damage from an accident.

The key point is that this is not a problem with language comprehension or intelligence. The person knows exactly what they want to say and understands what others say to them perfectly. It's just that the physical process of pushing that sentence out as sound is malfunctioning.

The key point here is that the tool doesn't help with "turning thoughts into sentences" - it helps with "pushing an already-formed thought out as clear sound." Dysarthria is often mistaken for a language disorder or an intellectual issue, but it's actually a problem with the muscles and nerves used for speaking, separate from comprehension or judgment.
