On August 24, OpenAI posted a short video to its YouTube channel titled "You Can Just Use Your Voice." As the title suggests, it shows that you can use ChatGPT Work entirely by voice, no keyboard required. The video's description reads: "It helps capture your thinking and keep it moving forward."

A tangle of lines representing voice input flows through a dotted arrow into ChatGPT Work (shown as a single dot inside a circle), and from there a solid arrow leads out to a line-based work document. The image illustrates how a thought spoken aloud passes through Work and comes out the other side as a finished document.

ChatGPT Work is the work-focused mode that OpenAI has been showing off through a string of demo videos throughout August. As covered in ChatGPT Work: internal demo shows everything from meeting briefs to strategy decks, OpenAI showed on August 18 how three different teams — sales, marketing, and strategy — used the tool to put together a customer meeting brief, a blog draft, and a market-research-based strategy deck, respectively. All three demos followed the same sequence: switch modes, connect tools, specify the question and format, review intermediate output, and get human approval. This voice video adds one more input method to that mix. Typed instructions are swapped out for spoken ones, but the same five-step flow from the earlier demos still appears to hold.

OpenAI had already shown, on August 11, how ChatGPT Work syncs projects, conversations, and skills with Codex, and on August 13, a "computer history" feature that remembers recent work context. Add voice input to that list, and ChatGPT Work looks like it's steadily expanding the ways you can feed it information — letting you jot down a thought the moment it hits you in a meeting, then carry it forward into a document, email, or presentation. The video itself doesn't go into details like where you access this or which platforms support it, but earlier demos showed entry points at chatgpt.com/work and through Work mode in the Mac and Windows desktop apps.

For anyone who isn't used to crafting text prompts, just saying a thought out loud right after a meeting might be a more natural way to get started. That said, this is still just a short teaser video, so it's not yet clear which languages the voice recognition supports or which tools it connects to.
