AI Slop

This is a derogatory term for the low-quality, mass-produced AI content flooding the internet. It comes from "slop," as in pig feed or scraps, and refers to things like clickbait AI images, auto-generated blog posts, and fake information videos.

If "spam" was the word for the email era, "slop" is the word for the generative AI era. When you see this term in a culture piece, it's usually in the context of: worries that search results and social media feeds are being polluted by slop, platforms rolling out policies to label or limit AI content, and the rising value placed on things "actually made by a person."
