AI picture book

An AI picture book is a children's picture book where neither the story text nor the illustrations are made by hand — both are generated with AI tools. In the past, a writer would write the story and an illustrator would draw a picture for each page, but with an AI picture book, you just give a short description of the topic or plot, and the AI produces both the sentences and matching illustrations. It's like having a chef who, once you name the ingredients, handles the cooking and the plating all at once.

In educational settings, this is often used not by students writing on their own, but by teachers learning to quickly create class materials. For example, if a teacher wants to make a story about safety education for the new semester, they can jot down a few lines of plot, and the AI fills in the rest of the sentences and illustrations, producing a complete picture book in just a few minutes.

However, AI sometimes generates plausible-looking but false details in the pictures or story, so an adult should review the finished picture book before showing it to children.

"Create an 8-page children's picture book with the following plot: [e.g., a story about a squirrel in the forest making a friend]. For each page, write one short sentence along with an image description I can use as a reference for illustrating that scene."

You can then feed each page's image description into an image generation tool one by one to complete the illustrations. After it's done, it's a good idea to have a person check for any incorrect information or odd images before use.
