Anthropic announced on September 15, through Claude's official X account, that "Salesforce in Claude is now available in beta." It is a plugin that pulls Salesforce accounts, opportunities, and pipeline into Claude, and it ships with 37 prebuilt sales skills. According to the company, sellers can prep a call, review a deal, build a pipeline dashboard, and send a forecast without leaving the conversation. The first product the two companies previewed under the Claudeforce name on August 26 has opened as a public beta three weeks later. By the time METAL checked, the post had passed 160,000 views.
The beta opened on the first day of Dreamforce, Salesforce's annual conference. The official Claudeforce page METAL reviewed says Salesforce in Claude can be seen live at Dreamforce in San Francisco from September 15 to 17, and it states the plan: pilot customers first, then a public beta starting in September. The August 26 press release carried the same timeline in three lines: pilot customers first, public beta in September, additional skills starting in late 2026.
The 1-minute-23-second video attached to the announcement follows a single seller through a day. Having watched the entire video, METAL saw an admin connect Salesforce once, 48 accounts from a fictional customer sync, and the user pick a role between Account Executive and Sales Manager before receiving a screen that lays out the open pipeline, the largest account, and renewals due within 90 days. From there, the video builds an account plan for a specific customer, delivers a daily briefing, and pulls a quarterly forecast. The forecast screen diagnoses that 61% is committed but six of seven open deals are past their close date, alongside buttons to fix the stale close dates or run a pipeline review. The model indicator at the bottom of the screen read Sonnet 5.
The number 37 has been attached since the August announcement. According to the press release, the skills include meeting prep, deal health review, and pipeline review, plus an onboarding experience that reads Salesforce, Slack, and any other connector attached to Claude to stand up a dashboard tailored to the seller. The two companies said these skills are not generic CRM prompts wrapped around an API but were built to draw on Claude's reasoning, agentic tool use, and generative UI.
The permissions structure is the product's central claim. An admin connects Salesforce in Claude once, authentication and permissions are managed centrally, and every seller on the team has access from day one. There is no new permissions model to build and no account-by-account re-audit. Claude sees only what the user is authorized to see and does only what the user is authorized to do, because Salesforce routes every action through its own rules. Write-side controls are spelled out too: Claude can be set to check before emailing anyone outside the company, and when it updates a record, it changes only the field it said it would.
Marc Benioff, chair and CEO of Salesforce, said in the August statement, "Probabilistic intelligence alone doesn't run a company, and deterministic systems don't reason." The pitch is to attach Salesforce's data, workflows, and governance to Claude's reasoning and deliver an interface that thinks, reasons, and acts. Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, said in the same statement, "Salesforce in Claude brings this same frontier intelligence into the systems where much of the world's commercial activity happens."
Salesforce used its own sales team as the first customer. Alexa Vignone, President and Chief Revenue Officer at Salesforce, said on the official page, "My sellers start the day with the pipeline review already done and the account history already there." She added, "We've never had a software rollout where reps asked for access this fast." The story on Anthropic's side is similar: according to reports, the product is a packaged version of the internal setup in which Anthropic employees used Salesforce almost exclusively through Claude, skills, and MCP servers.
The price splits into two invoices. According to reports, Salesforce sells API call volume through headless consumption pricing, while customers contract separately with Anthropic for Claude inference. Patrick Stokes, Salesforce's president of applications and marketing, said in an interview that a seller's morning routine of opening the opportunity list and reading records one by one to build a plan "is like 10,000 clicks inside of Salesforce. Now you just go to Claude and it's going to execute all of that for you, and it's going to do it in like 30 seconds." He described the product as doing for knowledge workers what Claude Code did for developers.
The market reacted first at the August announcement. According to reports, Salesforce shares rose 12% in extended trading on August 26, when the announcement landed alongside fiscal second-quarter results, after having fallen about 22% for the year to that point. At a time when fears that AI companies would replace SaaS were weighing on software stocks, Salesforce chose to move inside Claude rather than defend its own screens. Stokes argued that Salesforce's value lies not in its UI but in its data, metadata, and years of accumulated workflows.
For Anthropic, this is also an expansion of its plugin lineup. METAL has reported that Anthropic released a Claude plugin for financial advisors, and has also reported that Cursor opened 31 official plugins connecting Gmail and Salesforce. In the race to pull business data toward agents, Salesforce picked Claude for the first slot.
What ships now and what ships later are clearly divided. The official page marks only the sales skills as beta and lists 11 areas as coming soon: service, marketing, commerce, revenue, field service, Tableau, MuleSoft, Informatica, Data 360, Headless 360, and industry agents. Enterprise Frontier Safeguards, which the two companies are building together, roll out in phases beginning later this fall. The mechanism combines zero data retention with detection of serious misuse; when monitoring flags a pattern, the alert goes directly to the customer with no Anthropic human review, and eligible customers can keep activity data under their own encryption keys and access policies.
A CRM company opened a product that bypasses its own screens on the first day of its own conference. Once an admin connects it, the whole team works deals inside Claude while Salesforce holds the rules and the invoice behind the scenes. Sales is the first slot, and the other eleven are still empty. The experiment of Claude becoming the new front door to business software is now running in customers' hands.
