Personal CRM comes to Android
Contact-management app Mesh has released an Android version. Mesh is a "relationship manager" app that visualizes personal and professional contacts, lets users leave notes on each person, and reminds them when it's time to reach out. It is reportedly a service acquired last year by Automattic, the parent company of WordPress.com.
The Android version is not a simple port. It supports split-screen and pop-up views, allowing users to keep Mesh open while using messaging or email apps simultaneously. It also includes keyboard shortcuts for foldables and tablets, in-app search, home-screen widgets with a Material You design that adapts to the Android background color, and real-time sync across devices.
Why Automattic is investing in a "relationship management" app
Automattic is best known for the blogging platform WordPress, but in recent years it has expanded into personal productivity and communication by acquiring services such as Tumblr and Day One. Beeper is one of these, a service that consolidates multiple messaging apps — WhatsApp, Instagram, Signal, Messenger, X, LinkedIn, Slack, Discord, and Google Messages — into a single app. Mesh and Beeper are already partially integrated, allowing users to hand off message drafts from Mesh to Beeper or move between profiles via deep links. The company appears to be aiming to tie the two products more closely together so that AI can eventually handle relationship management in full.
At the center of this direction is Nexus AI, currently in early access. Users can ask natural-language questions such as "Do I know anyone at this company?", "Who do I know living in this city?", or "Who's an expert in this field?" and the AI will search stored contact data for answers. The company said it is also testing improved business-card scanning and a voice-based, hands-free feature. Mesh co-founder Zachary Hamed said, "We're thinking about how AI can make you a better friend and help you build better relationships." He added that some users, combining social media and work-tool contacts, manage networks of 10,000 to 50,000 people — too many to keep track of alone.
The revenue model is subscription-based rather than ad-driven. Users can store up to 1,000 contacts for free, with paid tiers for larger contact lists or additional features. The company said it does not use stored personal data for ad targeting.

So what changes
With about 70% of Mesh users reportedly using it for work purposes, the app's real competition is less enterprise CRM tools like Salesforce and more the personal contact notes or business-card binders individuals keep on their own. Co-founder Matthew Achariam said the core target audience includes executives leading large teams or anyone who needs to manage a broad network of contacts. The Android launch expands the user base beyond what had been an iPhone-centric audience, while moving the product a step closer to a future where AI organizes contact data the way it already handles email and messaging. That said, the company has not yet disclosed specifics on subscription pricing tiers or the timeline for deeper integration with Beeper.
