PayBox

PayBox is a payment and wallet tool made by a company called MoonPay. Think of it as an errand-runner feature built into a chatbot: just tell the chatbot what you want, and it will buy or sell crypto, take out a loan, or even book you a flight.

The tool first showed up in ChatGPT and Claude as a crypto lending feature, but users in the US, UK, EU, and Australia couldn't use it there. Just days later, when it was added to X's chatbot Grok, it became available worldwide with no regional restrictions. So the same tool ends up available in different countries depending on which chatbot it's plugged into.

In news coverage, you'll see something like: "MoonPay announced on August 31 that it had integrated its AI payment and wallet tool PayBox into X's chatbot Grok." One easy mix-up to avoid: PayBox isn't a feature built directly by Grok or ChatGPT themselves — it's an outside tool made by a separate company, MoonPay, that gets plugged into multiple chatbots.
