Object Swap

Object Swap is an editing method that picks out just one part of a video to change while leaving everything else as is. It's a bit like swapping out a single prop on a stage while keeping the actor's blocking, the lighting, and the camerawork exactly the same.

Up to now, refining AI-generated video had a real problem: if you disliked just one part and tweaked the prompt to regenerate the whole clip, you'd lose the performance and camera movement that had come out well, along with everything else. Object Swap sidesteps this. You point to the thing you want changed in the original footage—clothing, a product, a prop—and only that gets swapped out for a new image, while the actor's movements and the way the camera moved stay untouched.

Inside Higgsfield's tool Genuts, this feature pairs up with Motion Transfer. Where Motion Transfer carries an entire movement over onto a new character or scene, Object Swap works the other way—precisely changing just one piece of the frame.

Higgsfield placed Object Swap alongside Motion Transfer inside its Genuts tool. Rather than regenerating the whole frame, Object Swap changes only a designated part—clothing, a product, a prop—while leaving the camera movement, the actor's performance, and the background untouched. Contrary to a common misconception, it doesn't regenerate the video from scratch; it swaps out a specific element on top of the original footage.

If you have access to a video editing tool that supports Object Swap, here's how you can try it:

1. Upload a clip you've already shot (usually under 30 seconds).
2. Add a reference image of the thing you want to change (clothing, a product, a prop, etc.).
3. A prompt is optional. Example: "Change the jacket the person is wearing into a red leather jacket. Keep the background, movement, and camera work the same."
4. Check the result—you'll see the camera movement and performance are unchanged from the original, while only the specified element has been swapped.
