Claude Design

Claude Design is a screen-design drafting tool made by Anthropic. Just as an architect might show a client several sketches at once and let them choose a favorite, you describe the screen you want in words, and it produces several editable mockups at the same time.

Each mockup works like a canvas whose colors, layout, and copy you can edit by hand. Once you pick and polish the one you like, you can hand it off to be turned into working code. It originally launched as a standalone web tool, but over time it was also integrated directly into Claude Code, Anthropic's coding tool.

It's available to paid users on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans, and runs on a version of Claude that has been tuned specifically for visual work.

The article explains that "the artboard itself is a concept that originated in Claude Design, referring to the practice of laying out multiple UI drafts side by side to compare and refine them." In other words, Claude Design is the name of a standalone web tool, and the recently released /design skill brings that same workflow into Claude Code. The two are easy to mix up.

1. Open the Claude Design web tool and describe the screen you want in a sentence.
2. Claude generates several editable mockups at once.
3. Pick the one you like, then adjust colors, layout, and copy by hand or by asking Claude to make changes.
4. Hand off the finished mockup to have it turned into working code.
