Google's Marian Croak named to TIME100 AI 2026
Google Research sends congratulations as Dr. Croak is recognized as a pioneer in AI
xAI is the developer of Grok, founded by Elon Musk. In 2026 it was absorbed into SpaceX and is no longer an independent company. Its flagship model is Grok 4.6. The acquisition of coding startup Cursor by SpaceX, reported around the same time, was a separate deal handled by SpaceX and is unrelated to xAI's Grok series. Grok 4.6, released in August 2026, was reportedly used to create games and 3D models in multiple cases within just two days of launch. Around the same time, a Grok-based bot was also released, drawing a stream of hands-on user reviews.
