An infrastructure company that protects websites and makes them faster. It sits at the center of the AI crawler control issue. Its main services include a CDN and firewall platform that manages website speed and security. Separately from OpenAI's conversational AI service ChatGPT, Cloudflare is closer to providing the underlying infrastructure that connects ChatGPT to external websites. It was reported that in August 2026, a Database tab was added to ChatGPT Sites, allowing data accumulated on websites to be checked directly within ChatGPT. This is an example showing that Cloudflare continues to expand its role in connecting AI services with web infrastructure.

The Agents API hands OpenAI the runtime that drives Codex, and it is now in public beta. Sessions and context management become OpenAI's job while your application only picks tools and an execution environment, though the data still sits in the United States alone.
