GeoAI (Geospatial AI)

GeoAI is technology that lets artificial intelligence read and analyze location-based information for you, such as maps, satellite photos, or GPS location records.

For example, if you tried to manually scan a wide-area satellite photo to find where new buildings have gone up, where forests have disappeared, or which way a river might overflow, it would take a very long time. GeoAI learns from large volumes of such photos, maps, and location data to automatically flag where changes have occurred, or to predict what might happen next.

Its range of uses is broad. It's applied in disaster forecasting—estimating flood or wildfire spread in advance—in logistics for planning delivery routes, in urban planning to track how cities expand, and in agriculture to assess crop conditions. Think of it simply as AI that handles data in the form of maps.
