Connectors

A connector is like a wire linking an AI assistant to another service. Normally, an AI has no way of knowing what messages have come in on Slack or what documents exist in Notion — but once a connector is set up, the AI can look directly into that content and use it to form answers.

It's similar to plugging various appliances into wall outlets at home. Plug in a Slack connector, plug in a Notion connector, and the AI is now able to pull information from those services whenever it needs to. The core value of a connector is that you no longer have to copy and paste material in every single time — once connected, it stays connected.

More recently, companies have started managing connector access through their identity management systems, so employees don't each have to log in separately. Whether used by an individual or a whole company, a connector is essentially the doorway through which an AI reaches out to data in the outside world.

The term appears in a sentence like: "It works by guiding users to set their preferences and Connectors." Here, Connectors aren't a new feature — they're the existing channel Claude already uses to pull schedules and work data from services like Slack, Notion, and Asana. New features such as a morning brief are simply a combination that organizes data gathered through these connectors on top of scheduled tasks; the connectors themselves aren't something newly built.

1. In your AI assistant's (e.g., Claude's) settings menu, look for a section related to connections or integrations.
2. Check whether services you use often, like Slack, Notion, or Google Calendar, appear in the list.
3. Select the service you want and complete the login authentication to finish connecting it.
4. Afterward, try asking in the chat something like "Summarize the important messages I got on Slack today" and see whether the answer draws on data from the connected service.
