Amazon Bedrock AgentCore

A runtime platform from AWS (Amazon's cloud service) for safely operating AI agents in real production environments

In plain words

Amazon Bedrock AgentCore is an operating platform from AWS (Amazon's cloud service) that lets AI agents run in actual production settings.

Here's an analogy. Even a brilliant chef (an AI that can think for itself and carry out tasks) can't serve a meal without a kitchen equipped with a stove, countertops, and fire safety systems. AgentCore plays the role of that kitchen. It provides the runtime environment and safeguards so that AI can pull in data, run code, and carry out multi-step tasks without things going wrong.

In practice, Formula One (F1) has said that agentic AI automation running on this platform cut the time needed to connect new data from weeks down to about 40 minutes. On the other hand, LendingTree had already built its own system before AgentCore's general release, so it stuck with its existing approach rather than switching over.

How it shows up in the news

In coverage of F1, the term appears in phrases like "agentic AI running on the Amazon Bedrock AgentCore runtime," showing that this is not an AI model itself but the runtime infrastructure that operates AI agents. The LendingTree story offers a contrasting case: the company built its service first, and AgentCore only reached general availability afterward, so it didn't bother migrating. In other words, AI agent services can be built without AgentCore — AgentCore is simply one option for running them in a more standardized way.
