AI GlossaryㅇWhere everyone starts
Omnichannel
A way of using the same AI agent seamlessly across multiple channels like Slack, email, text, and the terminal
In plain words
Omnichannel means a single AI teammate keeps the same memory and personality as it moves across different channels. Picture an employee who gets instructions on Slack, picks up the same task over email, sends a text update on the way home, and finally wraps things up at the command line back at their desk. The channel changes, but the person doesn't.
Most AI tools so far haven't been able to do this. A bot built for Slack lived only in Slack, and moving the conversation to text meant losing the context. Claiming to be omnichannel means tearing down that wall — no matter which channel you reach out through, the same agent picks up where the previous conversation left off.
How it shows up in the news
When Anything unveiled Skydive, it described the feature by saying, "First, it's omnichannel. You can use the same agent as-is across Slack, email, iMessage, and the CLI." A common misunderstanding here is thinking omnichannel means running several AIs at once — but it's actually the opposite. There are multiple channels, but the teammate working behind them stays the same one.
