Model Card

A Model Card is the official document released alongside a new model — part report card, part instruction manual. It lists what the model was trained on, its benchmark scores, what risks were tested (red-teaming results), and what it shouldn't be used for. Some companies call it a "System Card" instead.

If the launch blog post is the advertisement, the Model Card is closer to the user manual. It's the first place journalists and researchers look to check the claims in an announcement, and it's often where headlines like "limitations revealed in the model card" come from.
