Gizmo

Gizmo is the name for the small games that AI builds for you inside Meta's app Pocket, just from typing a few sentences.

You describe the game you want in a sentence or two, and the AI reads your description and automatically builds a mini-game you can play by tilting your phone or tapping the screen. You can even drop in a clip of your favorite song as background music, or use photos from your camera roll or ones you just took as material for the game. Much like the original meaning of the word "gizmo" — some mysterious little gadget you can't quite name — you don't need to know how to code. Just an idea and a sentence, and the gadget appears on the spot.

Once a Gizmo is finished, you can post it to your profile, and other people can save it, remix it by changing the rules, or repost it as is. So a single Gizmo can pass through many hands, mutating and spreading as it goes.

Articles describe it like: "Games made on Pocket are called 'Gizmos.'" A common point of confusion is thinking Gizmo is the name of the app itself — but the app is called Pocket, and a Gizmo is the individual game result created inside it from a prompt.

1. Download and open the Pocket app.
2. Write down the game you want in a sentence or two. For example: "Make a game where I tilt my phone to steer a ball dodging stars in space."
3. Try adding photos from your camera roll or ones you just took as material for the game.
4. Hold the finished Gizmo and tilt or tap it to see how it responds.
5. If you like it, post it to your profile, and try saving or remixing Gizmos other users have posted.
