FastH3
An open-source acceleration technique that speeds up generation from the video model H3 by cutting the number of iterative denoising steps.
In plain words
FastH3 is a shortcut that reduces the number of iterative steps a video-generating AI model has to go through before finishing an image. Video generation AI usually starts from a blurry noisy screen and refines it step by step into a clear scene, and each of these steps takes time. FastH3 cuts the refinement process down to just 4 computations at 5 fixed points, shortening the overall time needed to produce the result.
To put it in an analogy: if a painting normally took 10 layers of touch-ups to finish, FastH3 bakes in the expected effect of those touch-ups in advance so that just 4 layers produce a similar result. However, because this locks things in ahead of time, it gives up the flexibility of switching between different styles (adapters) for each request. The FastVideo team released this technique as open source, and it runs on top of vLLM-Omni, which serves MiniMax's video generation model H3.
How it shows up in the news
In the article, it's described as "the result of layering FastH3, an acceleration technique open-sourced by the FastVideo team, on top of vLLM-Omni serving." A common misunderstanding is that FastH3 is not the video generation model MiniMax H3 itself. FastH3 is a separate acceleration technique that helps run that model faster, while H3 is still the model that actually generates the video.
