ChatGPT Enterprise

ChatGPT Enterprise is the office-only version of ChatGPT that a company hands out to its whole staff. If the consumer version of ChatGPT is like a personal office where each person logs in on their own, this one is closer to an in-house computer room where the company issues the badges and sets the security rules. The company can decide in advance what kind of information employees are allowed to type in, and how the output should be reviewed.

For organizations that handle sensitive client information, like law firms, these rules matter a lot. Access can be split by account, and even which country's servers hold the data can be adjusted to match contracts and regulations. That's why such firms still leave heavy judgment calls, like legal advice itself, to people or specialized tools, and instead attach ChatGPT Enterprise first to the repetitive work that supports that advice, such as organizing materials, drafting, and pulling data.

Early rollouts commonly start with a test in one or two teams before expanding company-wide. There are cases showing that adoption grows faster when people are shown how the tool fits their actual work, rather than being forced to use it.

In the Gilbert+Tobin case, 87% of active accounts turned out to actually be using ChatGPT Enterprise. Normally, even when a company rolls out a tool, more than half of it tends to sit unused, but here it was adopted evenly, from partner-level lawyers to non-technical departments. A common misunderstanding, though, is that the tool didn't replace legal advice itself; it supported the operational work, like recruiting, finance, and marketing, that prepares the ground for that advice.
