AI Threat Defense

AI Threat Defense is a security service Google Cloud offers to enterprise customers. Think of it as a gateway that connects companies to other tools capable of finding security holes hidden in a company's systems with AI, and even generating the code to patch them.

Here's an analogy. Say you want to beef up a building's security, but hiring an entire team of top-tier security experts feels like overkill. It would be much easier if there were a rental shop where you could borrow the inspection equipment those experts built. AI Threat Defense plays that role. A company that wants to use Google's automated vulnerability-patching tools can access them through this service without having to go through an extremely strict vetting process.

That said, the AI behind this service isn't always Google's most powerful, latest security-specific model. That top-tier model is rolled out first to government agencies and specially selected partners through a separate program, and regular enterprise customers using AI Threat Defense end up working with a combination of other, already-released models instead.
